Vale Ex Libris
1986 - 2009

Ex Libris passed away peacefully in his paddock on Sunday 22 March 2009.
He was the 1991 100 day test winner at Medingen and was a successful sports horse up to S Klasse in dressage. He sired 4 licensed sons including the Bundeschampion and later Grand Prix competitor Exupery. His most notable progeny, the Olympic competitor, Escapado has won at the top level under two different riders, Carl Hester and now Hans Peter Minderhoud. Escapado finished in 13th position at the Athens Olympics in the individual, and has won a number of top tiered Grand Prixs including the British Nationals. Escapado’s full brother has been purchased by Katie Price to be her up and coming FEI horse. Ex Libris daughters continue to influence the breeding in Germany with a number of successful horses being out of Ex Libris dams including the premium Rubinstein stallion Rubinero (Gestuet Vorwerk) and De Libris by De Niro (Warendorf.) Ex Libris spent one stud season in the USA before being imported to Australia in 2004. He unfortunately became infertile and spent the last few years in retirement. His presence is still felt in breeding today in Europe.
He will be sadly missed.

2009 ACE assessment tour results: Filly foal "Donna Farina" by Don Duchovny out of Finesse (Farrington/Ludendorf) born 2 January 2009 scored 83.5% for conformation and 87.5% for movement an amazing 85.5% overall! She was awarded Premium foal and was the highest scoring foal overall for the 2009 Tour.

Birth Announcement: Finesse (Farrington/Ludendorf) foaled a stunning bay filly by Don Duchovny on 2 January 2009. A full sister to the gelding for sale she will be retained by the stud. Finesse has now tested positive in foal to Furstenreich (Florestan-Matador-Apart) due 15 January 2010. Finesse is for sale and will be available when her current foal is weaned in May/June 2009.

TWO IN ONE PACKAGE!

finesse

Finesse is a sensational moving 161 cm 8 year old mare by Farrington (KWPN) x Ludendorf (imp). She has tested 42 days positive in foal (on first insemination) to the Grand Prix dressage stallion Furstenreich (Florestan-Matador-Apart) and is due 15 January 2010.

Her first foal by Florestan (frozen semen) achieved Premium status at the 2007 ACE assessment and placed equal 11th overall (78.75%) with scores of 8.5 for trot in hand, overall appearance and 8s for neck, saddle position/shoulder, frame/top line, hind quarter/hind leg, walk in hand, swing & elasticity. He obtained such comments as "correct constructed colt" with "very good movements overall with lots of swing and steps underneath". The colt now rising 2yo has been retained as a stallion and dressage prospect - his movement has to be seen to be believed.

Her second foal by Don Duchovny is seriously stunning: conformation, type, movement and temperament. Another serious dressage prospect out of Finesse (gelding also for sale - see above).

Her third foal (a full sister to the above gelding) by Don Duchovny was born 2 January 2009. She was recently assessed by Gerd Kuest on the 2009 ACE Assessment Tour and scored 83.5% for conformation and 87.5% for movement. A huge 85.5% overall! Donna Farina obtained Premium title and achieved the HIGHEST score overall on the 2009 Tour.

Finesse is by the KWPN stallion Farrington who comes from a sound well-bred family. Farrington is one of the few Dutch stallions with the famous dressage stallion Doruto in his blood. Doruto sired many top dressage horses including Olympic Barbria, Chevalier, Ideaal, etc. His sire Wellington is well known as a producer of quality movement in his offspring, siring dressage horses like Bollvorms Ceylon and Luxaflex.

His offspring perform very well. This appears from the successful participation of various progeny at the Pavo Cup and from his dressage index. Farrington has been awarded the Keur Predicate by the KWPN in 2002. This is a high honor for a stallion indication he is a producer of good performance horses. Due to a fracture in his leg, Farrington was not able to perform in the sport, which is a pity because of the great talent he possesses. During his Stallion Test he received an eight for his basic gaits and 9 in temperament.

His offspring perform very well in the sport, resulting in his high index. His progeny have placed high in the Pavo Cup, and many of them are already performing at the Prix St. George level, such as Limited Edition.

Farrington sires horses with a willing character and 3 excellent strong gaits. These are the requirements for top performances in dressage and you see that his offspring compete to the highest levels of Dressage proving it!

Finesse's dam sire Ludendorf stood at 17.2hh and re wrote the history books by becoming an advanced eventer as well as a Grand Prix dressage horse. He has sired countless Grand Prix showjumpers and dressage horses and Advanced eventers, many of which have sold overseas for top prices. He has become the foundation sire for many warmblood horses in Australia with his progeny being highly sort after and regarded as valuable breeding stock.

Finesse was broken in prior to her first foal and is an easy breeder (frozen, chilled or fresh semen). She is a wonderful mum and her foals are serious dressage and breeding prospects – this outstanding mare in foal package will surely impress.
